Circular hiking routes in the hills around Polhov Gradec
1. In Polhov Gradec, behind the restaurant Pri Pratkarju, take the path to the top of Polhograjska Grmada and continue downhill towards the Gonte pass. From there, climb to the top of Tošč, descend to the hamlet of Selo, and continue to the village of Črni Vrh. From there, a walk via the hamlet of Smolnik and through the valley of the Božna river brings you back to Polhov Gradec, where you can stop for a refreshment at the 'gostilna' restaurants Pri Pratkarju or Pograjski dom. 2. From the village of Polhov Gradec, head for the hamlet of Smolnik and up the slope to the village of Črni Vrh. Next to the Košir tourist farm, take the path leading to the top of Pasja ravan and continue to Sivka, a 934-metre high grassy hill on the westernmost edge of the Polhov Gradec Hills. Descend to the hamlet of Srednji Vrh and continue to the Mali vrh hill. From there, head for the hamlet of Praproče, climb the Polhograjska gora hill, and descend to Polhov Gradec. 3. From Polhov Gradec, head for the hamlet of Praproče, climb the Mali vrh hill, and continue to the hamlet of Setnik and the village of Butajnova. From the valley of the Mala voda river, climb to the top of the 788-metre high Kožljek hill and continue via the Koreno hill back to Polhov Gradec. (Walk duration: 6 hours and 30 minutes).
4. From Polhov Gradec head for the Zavrh hill and climb to the top of Ključ. Continue to the hamlet of Babna Gora and descend to the valley of the river Gradaščica. From the hamlet of Belica or the village of Dvor walk to the top of Polhograjska Grmada, descend, and walk back to Polhov Gradec. (Walk duration: 7 hours.)
