The Polhov Gradec Mansion is one of the municipality's most important monuments and a vibrant centre of cultural activity. Its foundations date from the 13th and 14th centuries, when its site was occupied by a tower-shaped castle. Over the centuries, the mansion changed hands and was modified several times to suit the needs of its new owners. It was significantly altered by its 17th century owner Mark Anton Kunstel von Baumgarten, who added a Baroque chapel richly ornamented with stucco work, landscaped a park, added a lookout tower with a clock in the courtyard, and built a Neptune fountain bearing a relief depicting the coat of arms of the lords of the Polhov Gradec Mansion. From 1808 to 1858, the mansion was in the hands of Count Richard Ursini von Blagay, a botany and mineralogy enthusiast and a lover of art. In his time, the mansion became a centre of the progressive ideas of the Enlightenment.
Since 2008, the Polhov Gradec Mansion has been housing the Museum of Post and Telecommunications, managed by the Technical Museum of Slovenia, and the Local Museum of Polhov Gradec. The mansion's wedding hall and park pavilion provide an unforgettable setting for weddings. Visitors can join a tea party hosted by Count Blagay, read a book in the Library under Trees in the summer or attend a cultural event.
